Face mapping

This treatment is the same as the Prescription facial but starts with a relaxing and de-stressing back massage.

Papillon Signature Spa Facial

This is the ultimate pampering facial, once you have had one of these facials you will be hooked!  We have combined several favourite treatments having listened to what our clients like and are now able to offer this amazing treatment.  Based on dermalogica products we use steam to double cleanse and perform any extractions.  A hand treatment is applied to the hands and they are cocooned in warm mitts.  A facial exfoliation is carried out followed by a deeply relaxing and toning hot and sold stone facial massage.  While the face mask is delivering intense hydration to the face, the neck shoulders and scalp are gently massaged to ease away tension. To complete the treatment moisturiser is gently massaged into the face and then hands.  By this point we normally have to prize people off the heated couch!

Muscle Relaxation Treatment (Botox)

Facial lines are caused by the repeated use of the facial muscles in a particular manner. Just as a freshly ironed shirt will crease when worn at the elbow, as a result of bending the arm, so likewise our facial lines form whenever we frown, squint or smile. Some people have a distinctive facial habit - frowning, raising eyebrows - and they will in time see a set of facial lines appear which reflect this individual habit.

This treatment is a preventative treatment. Injections are given, usually to the forehead ‘frown area’, which temporarily put the frown muscles to sleep for a period of 3-4 months. This freezing of the muscle is always temporary and can never be permanent. The aim is to break the habit of frowning, and educate the patient in his or her facial movement so that one ‘forgets’ how to frown. Usually patients have several of these injections over a year or two until the frowning habit is broken. While the muscle is temporarily immobilised, the frown lines are not being created or reinforced. Botox is most effective for wrinkles in the upper part of the face. The ideal area to treat is the forehead, frown lines between the eyebrows and crow’s feet around the eyes.

The substance injected (a type of botulism toxin) has been used for many years as an accepted form of treatment for squints and nervous ticks. The substance cannot cause any permanent damage or travel within the body because it attaches itself to the muscle and cannot migrate from there. The injection technique that is used ensures that the substance cannot pass into the bloodstream. The action on the muscle is never permanent, that is why the treatments is called ‘The Hibernation Treatment’ as the patient’s frown is frozen into ‘hibernation’ for a few months.

As we grow older, more signs of aging become more evident on our faces. This is recognizable as wrinkles and folds, or nasolabial folds. There are various injectable cosmetic fillers available to help improve upon one’s facial appearance and achieve a more youthful look. These fillers add volume and smooth out wrinkles. Collagen and fat are some of the more common fillers. Restylane is a new form of injectable filler that provides advantages over fat and collagen injections. Restylane is a non-animal, biodegradable gel based on hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a substance found in most of our bodies as it provides volume and fullness to the skin.
