Face mapping

The dermalogica range is not based on old-fashioned skin typing, but on a unique system of analysis, allowing the skin therapist to design a personalised treatment for each client. Combining the latest skin analysis techniques with the proven results of Chinese Diagnosis, the face mapping procedure provides the therapist with an objective view of the skin’s condition, as well as an indication of the underlying health issues that might be affecting it. Rather than analysing the skin in general terms, Face Mapping divides the face into 14 distinct zones, assessing individual problems and needs. Using this inch-by-inch methodical analysis of the facial landscape allows the therapist to prescribe treatment and homecare needs accurately.

Dermalogica Prescriptive Facial

Your treatment is unique to you and varies on every visit. A combination of the following steps, according to your needs, may be expected: consultation, double cleansing, exfoliation, extractions, massage, concentrated booster then masque application, eye protection and the application of moisturiser. Following your treatment you will be presented with your prescription and you can discuss with your therapist the essential personalised homecare to address your specific concerns.

Dermalogica De-stress facial

This treatment is the same as the Prescription facial but starts with a relaxing and de-stressing back massage.

Papillon Signature Spa Facial

This is the ultimate pampering facial, once you have had one of these facials you will be hooked!  We have combined several favourite treatments having listened to what our clients like and are now able to offer this amazing treatment.  Based on dermalogica products we use steam to double cleanse and perform any extractions.  A hand treatment is applied to the hands and they are cocooned in warm mitts.  A facial exfoliation is carried out followed by a deeply relaxing and toning hot and sold stone facial massage.  While the face mask is delivering intense hydration to the face, the neck shoulders and scalp are gently massaged to ease away tension. To complete the treatment moisturiser is gently massaged into the face and then hands.  By this point we normally have to prize people off the heated couch!

The treatment starts of with a the cleansing routine, removal of eye makeup then a double skin cleanse using Precleanse to dissolve make-up, grime and old sebum then Skin Resurfacing Cleanser to cleanse and exfoliate the skin. The Lactic acid in the cleanser smoothes, re-texturises and delivers ultra-clean skin preparing the skin for maximum penetration of AGE Smart active ingredients.

Express facial

For those people who want a quick pick me up and only have half an hour.  Face is double cleansed using steam, speed mapped, then exfoliated and finally eye cream and moisturiser are gently massaged into the skin.  It may be quick but it is very effective! Here at Papillon we use two varieties of wax.

For specialist waxing such as Brazilian and Hollywood bikini waxing we use a french hot wax.  This wax does not set hard like the old style caramel coloured hot wax, instead it is still pliable when set so it is more comfortable to remove.  This was is also particularly effective for lip and chin waxing especially if the  hairs are particularly stubborn.

For all other waxing we use Australian Bodycare Teatree warm wax.  We use the disposable wax head system rather than pot wax and spatulas because it is more hygenic, every client has a new wax head used for their treatment which is then thrown away.  After treatment we apply Australian Bodycare Tea Tree body lotion, this is cooling and soothing and antibacterial and helps to close the hair follicles and discourage ingrown hairs.

Aftercare Advice

• No sunbeds for 24 hours after waxing
• No sunbathing for 24 hours after waxing
• Avoid swimming, saunas, hot baths for 12 to 24 hours after treatment
• Avoid using perfumed body lotions and deodourant for 12 hours after treatment
• Regular exfoliation and moisturising of waxed areas will discourage the growth of ingrown hairs
